Shaping of Israeli Media in Global Context

Professor Cohen will describe unique nature of Israeli media institutions and their development across the decades, and explain this unique structure by examining the financial, social, political & cultural conditions within which Israeli mass media companies and institutions operate. Special attention will be focused on global influences on Israel, the relationships among social groups in Israel and the relationships of Israel with its geographical neighbors.

The well-known complexity of Israeli party politics operates at a national level, but-unlike in other democracies- not at a local level. Professor Silver will discuss how this lack of local representation influences relations between Israeli Jews and the Arab minority.
