At most American Jewish summer camps, programs are conducted primarily in English, but the environment is infused with Hebrew signs, songs, and cheers.

Why do some camps infuse Hebrew in these unusual ways? Does Hebrew represent Israel, Judaism, camp, or something else? This talk draws from Dr. Benor’s current book project, based on over 200 interviews and visits to 36 camps.

Free and open to the public. RSVP by December 5: Fireman.2@osu.edu

Co-sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus, and supported by the Thomas and Diann Mann Israel lecture fund.
