Fantasy literature has proved fertile ground for the modern Christian imagination yet less sure territory for Jews. In this talk, Michael Weingrad considers the relationship between Jews and fantasy literature in terms of the contributions of Jewish and Israeli authors to the fantasy genre, the differences between fantasy and science fiction as they relate to Jewish history and theology, and the question of what a Jewish fantasyland might look like.
