Join Ohio State Melton Center for Jewish Studies Director Hannah Kosstrin with faculty Naomi Brenner, Lúcia Costigan, Robin Judd, and Ori Yehudai for a panel about new research in Jewish studies. The panelists will describe their current projects and address current conversations in Jewish studies.

Professor Naomi Brenner

Naomi Brenner

Naomi Brenner is an associate professor in the Department of Near Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on multilingualism, translation, gender, and identity in modern Jewish literatures. She is currently working on projects on the emergence of popular fiction in Hebrew and Yiddish and the politics and aesthetics of the feuilleton as a global form of historical media.

Lúcia Costigan

Lúcia Costigan is Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at The Ohio State University. research and teaching interests include colonial Latin American, Afro-Brazilian, early modern Iberian literatures and cultures, religious, and ethnic studies. Her current project focuses on modern inquisitions in the Iberian and Iberian American World, with emphasis on New Christians and Crypto-Jews.

Professor Robin Judd

Robin Judd

Robin Judd is associate professor of history at The Ohio State University, where she directs the Hoffman Leaders and Leadership in History Fellowship program. She also serves on the State of Ohio’s Commission for Holocaust and Genocide Education and Memorialization.  Judd's newest book, Between Two Worlds: Jewish War Brides After the Holocaust will be published in December 2023.

Professor Hannah Kosstrin

Hannah Kosstrin

Hannah Kosstrin is a dance historian specializing in Jewish dance in global contexts. She is Director of the Melton Center for Jewish Studies and Associate Professor of Dance at The Ohio State University. Her current book project examines Jewish dance migrations between Israel and the United States between the Cold War and Covid.

Ori Yehudai

Ori Yehudai is the Saul and Sonia Schottenstein Chair in Israel Studies and Associate Professor of History. His research and teaching focus on modern Jewish and Israeli history. His current research project deals with aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the 1970s.
