In the State of Israel, military service is a requirement for all men and women at age 18. However, there are many from various parts of Israeli society and even from outside the country who volunteer to serve. This talk will discuss not only the external pressures facing military personnel in the IDF but also the the social and political battles encountered by Israeli soldiers. These are the challenges faced by soldiers as they seek to grapple with the tensions existing between service to country and the social norms of their community.
This program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
