The film Who Will Write Our History? tells the story of a secret archive created in the Warsaw Ghetto by historian Emanuel Ringelblum and a band of journalists, scholars, and community leaders as a way to defeat Nazi lies and propaganda.
With 30,000 pages of writing, photographs, posters, and more, the archive (known as the Oyneg Shabes) is the most important collection of eyewitness accounts from the Holocaust.
For the first time, these invaluable documents have been made available to filmmakers, and they’re used here alongside stunning dramatizations to transport us inside the ghetto and the lives of these courageous resistance fighters. Oscar-nominated filmmaker Roberta Grossman (Seeing Allred, Above and Beyond) joins us for what is sure to be a lively discussion of this visionary film. (94 mins., DCP)
